Homemade Granola

Living as missionaries, out in the country on a compound, for so many years in Latin America, we did not get any kind of cold cereal for breakfasts. Mama got very adept at making Granola. Since we lived in a foreign country, we adapted the recipe to our surroundings. Over the years, I have played around with her

recipe and others. Because this is my own recipe out of my cookbook, the directions are rather implied:

In a very large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together. In a small pot,

mix the liquid ingredients together and heat until incorporated, then pour over the dry ingredients and mix well. Divide into two very large pans and bake at 275, stirring every 30 minutes, switching pans from top to bottom shelves each time. Bake until dry. This will take from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. When done, set on racks to cool. Pack into plastic bags and store in a cool, dark place. It can also be stored in a freezer.

Personally, I like this with with milk and a sliced banana or a dollop of applesauce.
